As the 18th Lok Sabha election draws to a close, exit polls on June 1st paint a promising picture for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Uttar Pradesh, suggesting a potential surge in their seat count compared to the 2019 polls.
Republic Bharat-Matrize’s projections indicate a significant win for the NDA, with estimations ranging from 69 to 74 seats out of the state’s 80-member contingent in the lower house of Parliament. Conversely, the INDIA bloc is anticipated to secure between 6 to 11 seats, while the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) may find itself empty-handed in the upcoming results slated for June 4th.
NDTV-Jan Ki Baat offers a similar outlook, foreseeing the NDA clinching 68 to 74 seats, with the BSP drawing a blank and the INDIA alliance securing 12 to 16 seats.
The electoral landscape has been marked by strategic alliances, with the Samajwadi Party and Congress uniting under the INDIA banner, fielding candidates across 17 constituencies. However, projections from India News-D-Dynamics and News Nation Exit Poll suggest a dominant performance by the NDA, with seat counts ranging from 67 to 69, further underscoring the alliance’s anticipated stronghold in the state. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the BJP secured a lion’s share of 62 seats out of the 80, followed by BSP with 10 seats, SP with 5, AD(S) with 2, and Congress with a single seat. As the nation awaits the official results, the exit poll forecasts hint at a reaffirmation of the NDA’s political prowess in Uttar Pradesh.
