In a significant move to protect investors, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has expanded its list of banned foreign exchange trading platforms. This includes 75 platforms that are not authorized to conduct forex transactions, such as Ya Markets, led by Lalit Matta, along with other notable names like Easy Markets, FX Smartbull, and PU Prime.

The RBI recently added 19 new names to its ‘Alert List’ of unauthorized forex trading platforms. These entities are operating outside the law under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and are not permitted to run electronic trading platforms (ETPs). The central bank has cautioned the public against engaging with these platforms, emphasizing the risks involved in unauthorized forex transactions.

Lalit Matta, known for his role at Ya Markets, also manages Ya Prime, a company that provides liquidity solutions for forex brokerage services. However, Ya Markets has come under scrutiny as the RBI continues to crack down on illegal forex trading practices.

The RBI has urged investors to check the status of any forex trading platform on its official website. The central bank maintains a list of authorized persons and ETPs, which investors should rely on to ensure they are engaging with legitimate firms. This warning highlights the importance of caution, as platforms not listed as authorized may still pose a risk.

In related news, India’s foreign exchange reserves saw a boost of $5.077 billion, reaching a total of $595.397 billion, according to RBI data. This increase comes after a decline of $462 million previously, as the RBI worked to stabilize the rupee amid global market fluctuations.

The RBI is actively collaborating with other government bodies to combat illegal forex trading and raise awareness among consumers. Recent investigations by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have targeted companies involved in illegal forex operations, resulting in significant arrests and seizures.

Investors are advised to stay informed and only engage with authorized trading platforms to avoid falling victim to fraud. For those interested in checking the RBI’s list of unauthorized forex entities, the official website provides easy access under the ‘Press Release’ section, where the updated lists can be downloaded.

As the RBI strengthens its efforts to maintain the integrity of the forex market, individuals are encouraged to remain vigilant and verify the legitimacy of any trading platform before making financial commitments.

Here is a list of 75 trading platforms banned by the RBI for conducting any foreign exchange transactions on behalf of investors:
