Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ kicked off the Nepal Investment Summit 2024 with a bang, ushering in a wave of excitement around the theme ‘Emerging Nepal’. With enthusiasm running high, the two-day event drew the attention of global investors, culminating in the approval of investments totaling more than NRs 9 billion for four pioneering projects.

At the summit’s close, Sushil Bhatta, CEO of the Investment Board Nepal (IBN), revealed the staggering turnout of 2,500 guests, including 800 potential international investors. Amidst the buzz, a diverse array of 152 projects dazzled attendees, sparking keen interest from both local and foreign backers.

Notable moments included direct interactions between Prime Minister Prachanda and 12 foreign investors, highlighting Nepal’s allure as a promising investment hub. With 30 high-profile delegates engaging top officials from key ministries, the groundwork for future collaborations was laid.

In his address, Prime Minister Prachanda extolled Nepal’s investment landscape, emphasizing its ripe potential and unwavering commitment to a liberal economic policy. With an open invitation extended to investors worldwide, Prachanda urged seizing the moment for mutual benefit.

The summit also witnessed the signing of a dozen MoUs between Nepal and its international partners, underlining a collective vision for growth and collaboration. Notable agreements included Nepal’s BhuramalLunkarandas Conglomerate teaming up with India’s Yotta Data Services Pvt. Ltd. to establish a cutting-edge Data Centre on Nepali soil.

On the sidelines, Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun unveiled a comprehensive handbook tailored for Indian investors eyeing Nepal’s vibrant market. Packed with vital insights and guidelines, the handbook aims to streamline the investment journey and foster bilateral ties.

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane echoed Prachanda’s sentiments, assuring foreign investors of a secure and conducive environment for their ventures. Meanwhile, former Prime Ministers K P Sharma Oli and Sher Bahadur Deuba extended bipartisan support, heralding Nepal’s emergence as a coveted investment destination.
